Blessed With Every Spiritual Blessing

Ephesians 1:3 tells us we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Ephesians 1:3 says,

Praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.”

The word blessed means the wonderful good one person receives from the overwhelming kindness of another.

God the Father, in his overwhelming kindness, has blessed us wonderfully in Christ with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 2:7).

God’s overwhelming kindness is called grace and comes to us freely through what Jesus has done for us (Ephesians 1:6).

Ephesians 1:4-8 reveals some of these spiritual blessings in Christ.

We, those who have come to faith in Jesus, are holy and blameless through Jesus (1:4).

Jesus took all of our impurities upon himself, all of our sins, and gave us his purity, his sinlessness.

We are clean in God’s presence (holy).

There is no sin God can blame us for or accuse us of (blameless).

Jesus took our blame.

Jesus took our accusation.

God now sees you as holy...clean before him.

God sees you as blameless...cleared of any sin.

We are his dearly loved sons and daughters (1:5; see also 5:1).

It gives God pleasure to call us his sons and daughters (1:5).

Through the blood of Christ our sin penalty has been paid in full, and as a result, we have been set eternally free from the penalty of sin (redemption) (1:7-8).

This act of redemption, when Jesus fully paid our sin penalty, thus freeing us from the penalty of sin, is called forgiveness (1:7-8).

All of our sins have been forgiven...forever.

This redemption...this forgiveness...was God lavishing upon us the riches of his grace (1:7-8).

Because we have been cleansed of and cleared from all sin, God has sent his Spirit to live in our hearts (1:13).

Ephesians 2 also describes more of these blessings.

We have been made alive with Jesus, raised up with him, and seated with him in heaven (2:5-6).

All of these blessings are the kindness of God to us through what Jesus did for us.

All of the blessings are free...gifts of grace...and are received by faith in Jesus (Ephesians 2:4-9).

Our response to God for these blessings of grace he has freely given to us in Jesus is praise.

Praise is standing in amazement of how good God is because of the blessings he has freely given us in Jesus.

Praise is us saying “Look at how great God is because of his grace, the blessings he has freely, fully, and forever given us in Jesus.”

Yes...we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

God has been wonderfully good to us.

God has been overwhelmingly kind to us.

We are blessed.
