Renewing Our Minds

Throughout our lives, our minds have been filled and continue to be filled with much content.

Our minds are filled with memories - This is what we have experienced.

Our minds are filled with messages - This is what we have heard.

Our minds are filled with media - this is what we have seen.

The content that fills our minds controls our emotions, feelings, desires, and decisions.

Some of the content is good, but much of it is bad…harmful, destructive.

To move forward in life in a healthy, productive way, we need to remove the unhealthy content in our minds.

We remove the unhealthy content by renewing our minds.

Paul, when writing to the Ephesians, encouraged them to be made new in the attitude of your minds.

When writing to the Romans, he taught them to be transformed by the renewing of your minds.

How do we renew our minds?

We renew our minds by replacing the harmful content with helpful content.

Though we can’t control much of what has filled our minds in the past, we can control what fills our minds from this day forward.

We can control who we are with and what we watch, read, and listened to.

We can fill our minds with information that will positively impact our lives.

For the next 30 days, purposely fill your mind with content that is healthy.

Listen to music and podcasts that has an inspiring message.

Read books that are strengthening.

Watch movies that are encouraging.

Spend time with people who are uplifting.

Avoid any media content that has a negative effect on your mind, desires, and decisions.

Avoid the people who pull you down and away from what is good.

For the next 30 days, purposely focus your mind with thoughts that are of high quality.

Paul encouraged those in Philippi to have high-quality thoughts.

He wrote (Philippians 4:8),

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

What we think about will control our lives.

What we dwell on will produce our desires.

What we desire will inform our decisions.

Our decisions will determine the direction of our lives.

The direction of our lives will determine our destiny.

It all starts in our minds…with our thoughts…with what we think about.

We can’t control the memories, messages, and media of our past that fills our minds.

But we can begin today to renew our minds by purposely filling them with healthy content and healthy thoughts.

As we do, transformation will happen.

We will experience positive life-change as we purposefully fill our minds with healthy content and healthy thoughts.
