The Mystery of God…Solved!
Many people all over the world consider God to be a mystery.
They wonder if God exists.
If God does exist, can you know this God?
Wouldn’t it be great that if God did exist he would reveal himself to us?
He would make himself known.
He would end the mystery.
Is it possible that God has already done this?
Has this mystery already been solved?
Yes, it has been solved.
And God is the one who solved this mystery.
God has revealed himself in the person of Jesus Christ.
Paul, whose writings are contained in the Bible, at one time considered Jesus to be a deceiver, leading people away from the truth.
But after his encounter with Jesus, he was convinced that God revealed himself to the world through Jesus.
In his letter to the Colossians, Paul writes:
I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. (Colossians 2:1-4)
In Colossians 1:15-17, Paul writes,
The Son [a title for the coming Christ who is Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn [ruler-in charge] over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Paul, who originally thought Jesus was a deceiver, a master manipulator of people, later was convinced that Jesus was the image of the invisible God…the revelation of God…the Creator of the heavens and earth.
Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 4:6,
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
People are seeking to solve the mystery of God.
Paul clearly states that God himself solved the mystery of God through Jesus Christ.
Those seeking the wisdom and knowledge of God have to look no further than Jesus.
Matthew, one of Jesus’ 12 disciples, wrote, “…and they will call him [Jesus] Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).” (Matthew 1:23)
John, also one of the 12 disciples, wrote,
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. (John 1:1-4)
In the context of these verses, John identifies the Word as Jesus coming to earth and living among us, revealing God to us.
We discover in the writings contained in the Bible that God has revealed himself to us in Jesus.
Jesus is either the master manipulator of the world or the Creator of the world.
The Bible tells us that Jesus is God, the Creator of the world.
Some may ask, “Can the Bible be trusted?”
That’s a great question.
If you would like to read about the trustworthiness of the Bible, I have written an article called Can The Bible Be Trusted?.
