To Properly Understand The Bible…

To properly understand the Bible, it is critical that a person grasps that the old testament is not 39 books of the Bible, starting with Genesis and ending with Malachi.

Additionally, it is critical that a person grasps that the new testament is not 27 books of the Bible, starting with Matthew and ending with Revelation.

To view the old and new testaments this way violates the Biblical teachings of the testaments.

The testaments cannot refer to anything other than what the Bible itself says they are.

The Bible states that the old testament was the law of Moses for the nation of Israel.

The old testament was explained starting in Exodus 19-Deuteronomy, and was established in Exodus 24:8 with the sacrifice of an animal.

According to the Bible, it was in effect until Jesus died on the cross.

When Jesus died on the cross, he established the new testament of grace in his blood, which is for all nations.

The two testaments are two different ways of relating to God…one by law, the other by grace.

According to the Bible, Jesus was born under the law of Moses (Galatians 4:4).

Mary and Joseph followed the requirements of the law after his birth.

Jesus lived under the law and taught the law.

He told the Jewish people to offer animal sacrifices in accordance to the law of Moses.

However, he came to free people from the law, which he did through his death (Galatians 4:4-6).

Just before his arrest and death, he told his disciples he would establish the new testament in his blood for the forgiveness of sins (Matthew 26:28; Luke 22:20).

The old testament of law brought temporal forgiveness of sins through the blood of animals.

The new testament of grace brought eternal forgiveness of sins through the blood of Jesus (Ephesians 1:6-8; Colossians 1:13-14; Hebrews 9:12; Hebrews 10:16-18)..

The new testament, according to the Bible, is not about 27 books of the Bible, rather it is about 1 Savior’s blood poured out on the cross for the eternal forgiveness of sins.

This forgiveness is free, full, and forever, and it is received through faith in Jesus (Acts 26:15-18; 13:38-39; 10:42-43).

Unless the differences in the testaments are understood, the Bible cannot be understood.

This foundational understanding of the Bible is vital to properly interpreting and applying the Bible.

This understanding is the key to unlocking the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation.

It is the key to understanding the prophets.

It is the key to understanding the Great Commission.

It is the key to understanding all 66 books of the Bible.

Without this understanding, the Bible will be consistently misunderstood, misinterpreted, and misapplied.
