Do Not Let A Church Or Ministry Leader Put You In Bondage

Galatians 5:1 says it is for freedom that Christ set you free. Therefore, stand firm in your freedom, and do not let anyone place you under a yoke of bondage.

In this verse, Paul is encouraging believers in Jesus not to let any church or ministry leader place a list of disciplines or requirements upon you, so that if you practice the disciplines daily or fulfill the requirements yearly, then you will be...

…right with God,

…close to God, or

…grow in your relationship with God.

The truth of the gospel is that Jesus, through his blood shed on the cross, has made you right with God and brings you close to God.

Being right with God and close to God become realities in our lives the day we believe in Jesus.

If there is something you must do to get right with God or be close to him, then Jesus was wasting his blood on the cross, dying an unnecessary death (Galatians 2:21).

Jesus did everything for you and set you free from having to do anything to be right with God or close to God.

As you understand what Jesus has freely and fully done for you, you will find yourself growing in your relationship with God.

So be encouraged by what Paul wrote in Galatians 5:1.

Jesus set you free from the disciplines and requirements leaders say you need to practice and fulfill to be right with God, close to God, and grow relationally with God.

Stand firm in your freedom by not let them put you under their disciplines and requirements.
