One Died For All (2 Corinthians 5:14-15)

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:14-15:

"For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again."

What an amazing statement of grace!

Because Jesus loves us so much, he died for all of us.

But why did he die for us?

The penalty for sin is death.

At the cross, Jesus represented the entire human race by dying for us...all of us.

His death was our death.

His payment was our payment.

This means there is NOT ONE PERSON who Jesus does not love and for whom he did not die.

There is NOT ONE SIN for which Jesus did not die.

Jesus love us.

Jesus loves you.

Jesus’ love for all of us compelled Paul on his dangerous missionary journeys to tell others about Jesus (see 2 Corinthians 4:7-18).

Paul was convinced of Jesus’ love for all of us.

Not only did Jesus die for us all, but he rose from the dead.

Paul’s conclusion - based upon the great love of Jesus for us all, his death for us all, and his resurrection from the dead - is that we derive our purpose in life from Jesus' love for us, his death for us, and his resurrection for us.

Through faith in Jesus, we receive complete forgiveness, which Jesus secured for us in his death, and we receive eternal life, which Jesus secured for us through his resurrection.

So as you remember Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, be encouraged, it is proof of how much you are loved by Jesus.

If you have never placed your faith in Jesus, you can do so today. The prayer below is a simple way to express your faith in Jesus.

Jesus, today I place my faith in you. I believe you love me, died on the cross for all of my sins, and rose from the grave to give me eternal life. Through faith in you, I receive the forgiveness of sins and eternal life.”
