6 Reasons Modern-Day Believers Get Mad At The Teaching “The Law Has Ended” - Part 3

Reason #4: Modern-day Believers Have Not Been Taught About 70 AD.

Following the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, most of the Jewish people rejected him.

They rejected him as the Christ of the Jewish Scriptures.

They rejected the new testament of grace he established in his blood.

Consequently, they continued to practice the law of Moses.

They also persecuted their fellow Jews who believed in Jesus, killing some of them and arresting others.

Then, in 70 AD, the final judgment upon the nation of Israel came when Rome destroyed the city of Jerusalem – just as the law stated (Deuteronomy 28, 32; Leviticus 26; Daniel 2, 7, 9-12; Revelation 6).

Through the destruction of Jerusalem, the old testament era of law officially ended.

This judgment of 70 AD would be the final time pain, sorrow, crying, and morning would be heard in the city as a result of judgments under the law of Moses.

This is recorded in Revelation.

Because most believers have not been taught about 70 AD and the connection of Matthew 24-25; Mark 13; Luke 21; and the book of Revelation to it, they tend to glory in the old testament of law.

The tend to get mad when someone teaches that the old testament of law has ended and the new testament of grace has come.

Reason #5: Modern-Day Believers Do Not Understand God’s New Plan Of Grace

God ended the old testament of law and began the new testament of grace (2 Corinthians 3:1-6:2).

This is what the Book of Hebrews is about.

However, much like first-century Israel, the old testament of law and the new testament of grace exists side by side in the mind of many modern-day believers.

Yet to God, the old and new testaments do not exist side by side...they can’t.

One is law, the other is grace.

The law brought temporal forgiveness through the blood of animals.

Grace brought eternal forgiveness through the blood of Jesus (Hebrews 9:12; 10:17-18).

The law brought condemnation and death.

Grace brought salvation and life (see 2 Corinthians 3:1-6:2).

By abolishing the law through the death of Jesus, God established his new plan of grace and created his new people of grace who form the spiritual temple of grace.

Those who have placed their faith in Jesus make up God’s new family of grace (Ephesians 2:11-22).

The new family of grace is not under the law of Moses.

Sadly, many believers do not understand God’s grace plan, which leads us to the final reason most modern-day believers get upset when it is taught that the old testament of law has ended.
