Why Must Satan Be Released For A Short Time?

The purpose for Satan being released for a short time (Revelation 20:3) was to allow for God’s completion of judgment upon first-century Israel for their violations to the law and their murderous rampage of believers.

The final judgment would be the destruction of the temple and the beloved city of Jerusalem by the armies of the nations.

God paused the judgment for a thousand years (a long period of time) as the gospel of grace went to both Jews and Gentiles.

This was an opportunity for Jewish people to place their faith in Jesus.

It was the extended year of the Lord’s favor to the Jewish people, giving them time to believe in Jesus before the judgment.

God extended the year of the Lord’s favor to a thousand years (a long period of time) because he did not desire for anyone to perish in judgment but all to be saved (2 Peter 3:9).

In AD 66, the short time of Satan's release began when he gathered the armies to Jerusalem during the Roman-Jewish War), and in AD 70 Satan's short time of release ended with the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple.
